Snow and ice accidents, particularly during the winter in Maryland, right in the Mid-Atlantic, they happen all the time. Ice perhaps being the trickier case because sometimes you can’t even see it; it’s referred to as black ice.
So basically, when you are driving your vehicle—any state, but in Maryland—you’re required to drive safely under the circumstances. So if there’s snow, or there’s ice, or there’s a combination of snow and ice, people have got to slow down. Okay? They can’t drive as fast. They’ve got to watch their turns. They’ve got to anticipate more.
If you’re coming up to a light, you can’t stop in snow and ice like you can on a clear summer day. And so we see a lot of these accidents, and a lot of it is because when it comes to this inclement weather, it comes to this bad wintry, snowy weather, there’s people driving around every day that don’t adjust for those conditions. They just think it’s another day on the road, and they cause a lot of accidents—a lot of serious accidents during the winter months in Maryland.
